UNION – Laura S. Kirkpatrick, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Born June 27, 1923, in Union, Laura was the daughter of Everett and Reta Butler Storer. She graduated from Union High School, Class of 1940, and married Stephen Kirkpatrick May 8, 1944. Together they had four children, Gail Whittier of Union, Gary Kirkpatrick of Augusta, Richard Kirkpatrick of Union and Jada Beardsley of Union. In her early years, she drove for the U.S. postal service, was a cook for the Union schools, worked many years at Sylvania and as a pastry cook at Eastside and Come Spring Restaurant. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Union Fire Department Auxiliary and she helped her husband with the family farm. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Stephen Kirkpatrick, in 2004. In addition to her children, Laura was also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Lakeview Cemetery, Union. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Laura’s memory to the Union Fire Department, P.O. Box 162, Union, ME 04862. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
