BANGOR – LaVerne O. Bissell, 95, died March 7, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born May 25, 1910, in Brewer, the son of Everett and Ruth (Griggs) Bissell. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a talented finish carpenter. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church of Bangor. He is survived by one son, Richard D. Bissell Sr. and his wife, Louise, of Holden; one daughter, LaVerne Stoner of Bangor; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Althea Horne of California; and a niece, Ruth Smith of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia; and his second wife, Evangeline; a son, Robert; two daughters, Gloria Furrow and Regina Randall; and one sister, Helen Trites. A graveside service will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bangor.
