ROCKLAND – Lawrence A. Coffin, 60, a lifelong resident of Rockland, died Friday, July 18, 2008, of a heart attack at Penobscot Bay Medical Center. Born July 21, 1947, in Rockland, he was the son of Leavitt “Lev” and Charlotte Wallig Coffin. Larry attended the University of Maine, and received a business degree from Burnett College, Boston. He served in the Navy as a medical corps-man aboard the carrier USS Enterprise. Beginning as a youth, he worked in Coffin’s Clothing Store, the family business, eventually becoming manager. When the store closed in the mid-1980s, he worked around town in various capacities until he retired. He is survived by his sisters, Carol Coffin of New York City and Ann Coffin of Scarborough. Family and friends are invited to visit 6-7:30 p.m. Wed-nesday, July 23, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rock-land, where a celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24. A private interment will be at Achorn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
