GRAND ISLE – Lawrence J. Grivois, 52, died unexpectedly Dec. 17, 2004, at his Lille village home. He was born Jan. 27, 1952, in Grand Isle, the son of Leon and Verna (Labrecque) Grivois. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Limestone High School. Larry was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War retiring due to disability in 1988 after more than 17 years of military service. He was stationed in Korea for two years where he helped to erect schools, hospitals, and recreational facilities for Korean youth during his time off. For this he was awarded a certificate of commendation from the local Korean Province. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He is survived by one son, Craig Grivois and his wife, Jill, of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Jennifer, of Germany; one brother, Lorne Grivois of Hardy, W.Va.; five sisters, Bernice Doody of Limestone, Norma Grivois and Mae Jean Divilbiss, both of Van Buren, Judy Evans of Minnesota, and Maryann Cote of Plaster Rock, N.B. He will also be remembered by his former wife and companion, Georga (Cabral) Grivois of Van Buren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Melvin Grivois. A committal service will be held in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou.
