ORRINGTON – Freda Hewes-Smith, 80, died Dec. 16, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 18, 1924, in Bucksport. Freda loved doing and talking about arts and crafts. She is survived by one son, Nelson Carey and his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Jeanie Wells and her husband, Harry; brother, Robert Cunningham; brother-in-law, George Sawyer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Smith; daughter, Paulette Fricke; sisters, Doris Witham and Elizabeth Sawyer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Marston Cemetery, Orrington.
