IPSWICH, Mass. – Lawrence R. Sweetser, 93, husband of Louise (Williams) Sweetser, died Nov. 25, 2004 in Ipswich, Mass., following his extended illness. He was born in Presque Isle, the son of the late Alvin and Amy (Richardson) Sweetser. He was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, and of the University of Maine, Orono, where he later taught and coached. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his daughters, Carol Sweetser Gilbert, and Meredith Sweetser, of Oakland, Calif.; his brother, Ralph Sweetser of Presque Isle; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Sweetser, formerly of Presque Isle; Blanche Haynes, formerly of Bucksport; and Addie Smart, formerly of Monroe. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich, Mass.
