PROSPECT HARBOR – Lawrence S. Jordan Jr., 77, died Feb. 25, 2007, in Bangor. He was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Bar Harbor, the son of Lawrence S. and Mabel E. (Black) Jordan Sr. Lawrence graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1948 and lived with his grandmother, Ethel Black. He was a lobster fisherman for 67 years and was proud to have his grandson, Andrew, for stern man for the last 12 years. Lawrence was an avid sportsman involved in track, football, basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Department for 58 years. Lawrence was a selectman for the town of Gouldsboro for several years and also an assessor and served on the Town Planning Board. Lawrence was a member of the Knight of Pythias, the Winter Harbor Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Anah Shrine, where he was a member of the Lobster Boat Unit. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joy (Spear) Jordan of Prospect Harbor; one son, Edward Jordan of Eastport; two daughters, Laurie Mattila and companion, Mark Young, and Mary Jayne Naumann and husband, James, all of Prospect Harbor; three brothers, Robert Jordan and wife, Georgina, of Dunnellon, Fla., Frank Jordan and wife, Linda, of Winter Harbor and Richard Jordan and wife, Faye, of Prospect Harbor; one sister, Sheila Batson of Ellsworth; grandchildren and great-grand-children, Mary Cooper and husband, Chris and their children, Charlotte and Sam, Robyn Colson and her companion, Tim Walton and her children, Killian and Kollin McLean and Kaleb Colson, and Andrew and John Naumann, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawrence was predeceased by his sister, Janet Torrey. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ells-worth.
