ORONO – Lee Anne (Mowrer) Sandy, 43, died May 26, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born May 26, 1965, in Portland, the daughter of John Lavender and Anne Marie (Rotolo) Smyth. Lee Anne was known for her strong personality and goodwill towards others. She loved the Internet and her network of online friends. She had a strong passion for her family and a special affection for her grandfather, Philip and her father, Wally, who helped take care of her for so many years. Lee Anne is survived by her parents, Anne Marie (Rotolo) and Wally Smyth of Orono; siblings, John Mowrer of Texarkana, Texas, Therese Mowrer of Orono, James Mowrer of Texarkana, Texas, Ashley Smyth of Deerfield, Fla., Joseph Smyth of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Thomas Smyth of Orono; grandparents, Philip and Antoinette Rotolo of Portland; uncle, Philip and his wife, Cindy Rotolo, of Portland; aunts, Therese and her husband, Timothy Flaherty, of Yarmouth, and Cindy Dell’ aquila of Portland; nephews, Dominic, Christian and Cameron Mowrer; many cousins; and her beloved cat, Nick. Lee Anne’s family thanks the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Orono Commons for all their care given to Lee Anne. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Main Street, Orono, the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, pastor, celebrant.
