GORHAM – Lee E. Cole, 82, of Great Falls Road, died peacefully Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was born April 20, 1925, in Springfield, a son of G. Oland and Mable Leavitt Cole. Lee worked in the woods in Springfield before moving to Westbrook in 1950, where he went to work at S.D. Warren, retiring in 1986 after 36 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theatre. Lee was married to Joyce (Aldrich) Cole in 1944 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting and fishing. Lee especially loved going to the coast and lobstering. He enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends, and later enjoyed going on many bus trips with these special friends. Survivors include three great sons, David and his wife, Janet, Dean and his wife, Denise, and Dale and his wife, Terri, all of Gorham; a sister, Enid Smith of Westbrook, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 6, at the chapel. Burial will be held after at White Rock Cemetery, Gorham. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to White Rock Baptist Church, care of Nancy Pratt, 26 Wilson Road, Gorham, ME 04038.
