BARTON, Vt. – Phillip D. LaFontaine, 77, passed away June 30, 2007, in Newport, Vt., after a brief illness. He was born June 23, 1930, in Dexter, the son of Louis and Rose (Cassidy) LaFontaine. In 1959 Phil moved to Barton, Vt., to manage Converse Funeral Home, until his retirement in 1982. Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Elm Street, Barton, Vt. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Barton, Vt., with the Rev. Daniel Rupp celebrating a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will take place 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
