LEILA E. (LENFESTEY) BEAL BEALS – Leila E. (Lenfestey) Beal, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Oct. 28, 2003, at a Machias Hospital. She was born January 16, 1918, on Beals Island, the daughter of Charles and Greta (Beal) Lenfestey. She was a life member of the Beals RLDS Church now the Community of Christ, where she was a member of the church choir for years. She married her husband Charles in 1939, on her family’s farm on Beals. Leila enjoyed summers with her family on Fisherman’s Island and Slate Island. She was a woman who always put others first, her family, her church and her friends were the most important things in her life. Her cooking was some of the best around, her rhubarb custard pie was something beyond compare. She was a homemaker and worked part time in the Beals School as a teacher’s aid. Leila is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Beal of Beals; her two sons, Luther Beal and his wife, Alice, of Newburyport, Mass., and Farrell Beal and his wife, Gail; one granddaughter, April and her husband, Jim Carver, and their children, Hannah and Kyle; her brother, Elder Farrell Lenfestey and his wife, Myrtle, all of Beals; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Elder Willavie Beal; and a brother, Wilfred Lenfestey. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beals Community of Christ, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003. Interment will be at the Beal Family Cemetery, Beals. Memorial contributions may be made to her church the Community of Christ, Beals, ME 04611.
