SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Leila Munson Dadmun, 33, died Dec. 21, 2005, after a long courageous battle with Leukemia, in her relatively short life, she found true happiness through her family and friends. Leila was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Dadmun of Somerville, Mass.; and caring mother to her beautiful child, Lex Munson Dadmun. She was the first child of her proud parents, Henry and Fatima Munson of Winthrop, Mass. She was also a true friend and sister to John and his wife, Angie, and their daughter, Sophia of Winthrop, Mass. She was a wonderful big sister to her adoring siblings, Michael and Nadia Munson. She developed many close friendships throughout her life, many of which came from EF Education, a travel company at which she excelled at for more than eight years. Others came from Orono, the small college town where she grew up. Leila will be long remembered for her unbelievable courage and grace during her torturous fight against Leukemia over the last year and half. Another legacy will be her generosity and kindness, giving family, friends, co-workers and strangers her genuine concern, time and money whenever possible. Some of us that knew her will remember her piercing honesty and unwavering integrity. Others will remember her wonderful sense of humor, wit and child-like playfulness. She was a relentless optimist and a go-getter who got everything she wanted out of life, including traveling to over 26 countries all over the world, nurturing a loving family, acquiring a beautiful home and developing a prosperous career and much more. There will be many aspects of her that will live within us for many years to come, but her lasting legacy will be her zest for life, a truly passionate person with a vibrant soul. Even in her final days, she enjoyed the simple pleasures life has to offer; laughing and talking with friends, listening to Tommy’s melodic guitar, relishing her son’s every giggle, watching movies with her siblings, eating good food with her mother, making truffles with her closest friend, and watching the waves with her father. She asked that we not mourn her death, but rather celebrate her life. In her honor, there will be a celebration Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Ocean View Inn, 171 Atlantic Rd., Gloucester, Mass., She requested everyone who comes wear bright cheerful clothing.
