JONESPORT – Leland E. Tibbetts, 56, passed away Aug. 12, 2004, sur-rounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 8, 1948, in Bar Harbor. He was a veteran of the Navy having served from Nov. 18, 1968, – Sept. 24, 1970. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion, and the U.S.S. Little Rock Association. Leland loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the water. His favorite pastime was drinking coffee with the boys. He is survived by his children; sons, Leland Alley, Wilford Tibbetts, Michael Tibbetts and wife, Tori; daughters, Tammy Tibbetts, and Keely Tibbetts; grandchildren, Logan Alley and one grandson on the way; brothers, John Tibbetts and wife, Lucille, Theodore Tibbetts and wife Allison, and “Red” Theodore Tibbetts; the love of his life, Lynda Barnes; best friends, Karen and Dale Thompson; very special friends, “Buster” Charles Huntley Jr. and Vicki Johnson, Gracie Urquhart, James Alley, and Newman Thompson; nieces and nephews, Penny, Trudy, Valerie, Isaiah, Atrica, Estelle, Whitney, Rana, Emma, Alvin, Alvin Jr., Ina, Sarah, Harry, and Eli. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Rose (Alley) Tibbetts; sister, Alisha Rose Tibbetts; and Horace Tibbetts and Kathleen Ackley. Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at the Community of Christ Church, in Jonesport. A service will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the church, officiated by Pastor George Woodward. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesport with military honors.
