E PLANTATION – Lemmie A. Brewer, 76, died Jan. 7, 2004, at his residence. He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in E Plantation, the son of Herbert and Rosie (Fogg) Brewer. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He is survived by his first wife, Joan Gardner of Mars Hill and their children, Ronnie Brewer and his wife, Robin, of Robinson, Wanda Joslyn and her husband, Keith, of Monticello, Peggy Billings and her husband, Rick, of Westfield, Marilyn Burtt and Herman Taylor, of Mars Hill; 10 grandchildren, three great-grand-children, four step grandchildren; one brother, Wallace Brewer and his wife, Marie of E Plantation; two sisters, Laura Kinney and Katherine Boyle, both of Mars Hill; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Claudette (Bartley) Brewer; five brothers and two sisters. He will be remembered by two special friends, Terry and Walter. Relatives and friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. A military committal service will be held at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine, in the spring.
