CALAIS – Mary Catherine (Bires) Pettit died of natural causes Sunday, Dec. 28, 2004, in Loveland, Ohio. Born in Parchoviany, Czechoslovakia, in 1911, she immigrated to Woodland, in 1914 and lived there with her parents, Elizabeth and Paul, three brothers and two sisters. She married Louis J. Pettit in 1942 and they lived in Calais for approximately 55 years. Mrs. Pettit worked as a nurse aide at the Calais Memorial Hospital for several years. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Calais. She is survived by her three sons and their families, Paul and Janice Pettit of Loveland Ohio, John and Freda Pettit of Orrington, and Louis and Janet Pettit of Littleton, Mass.; including three grandsons, five granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. A memorial service in Calais is planned for the first week of July 2004.
