SOUTH BREWER – Lena (Sparks) Largay, 92, died Aug. 20, 2006, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Brewer, the daughter of Nicholas and Xania (Solometzer) Shpakowsky. Lena was a lifelong resident of South Brewer and worked as a waitress for 48 years, for Brountas Restaurant on Main Street, Bangor. She was a great cook and was a dedicated grandmother and great- grandmother. She is survived by three children, F. Thomas Largay and his wife, Sue, of Brewer, Lawrence Largay and his wife, Laura June, of Brewer and Richard Largay; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eula Skypeck of Enfield, Conn.; one sister-in-law, Mary Sparks of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by one son, Michael Largay; two brothers, Nicholas and Antonio Sparks; and one sister, Martha Owen. The family thanks the staff atStillwater Health Care for the wonderful care and support given to their mother. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where a graveside service will be held immediately after the visitation, Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Those attending may meet at the funeral home Wednesday or at the cemetery office, State Street entrance. All are invited to a memorial reception 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, 531 North Main St., Brewer.
