VAN BUREN – Leo “Eudo” Fournier, 61, of Van Buren, died courageously Nov. 11, 2004, in Bangor, fighting a long terminal disease, ALS (Lou Gherig’s disease). He was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Van Buren. Eudo had spent some time living in Florida the last few years. He served in the Army three years after graduating from Van Buren Boys High, in 1961, where he excelled in woodworking, and physical education, especially in wrestling and as a member of the high school ski team. Eudo also excelled in the physical education phase of his army training, he was a self taught man of many traits, including cooking, construction, remodeling, mechanic and wood crafting. He could come up with an idea of how to fix just about anything, and follow through. Eudo loved music and he often shared that love with his younger sister, Nola, to whom he was especially close to. He was an avid Harley Davidson, motorcycle rider, who had just purchased three new bikes in the past several years, trading in the prior ones. Eudo was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 49. Survivors include his two sons, Charles Fournier of Buxton, Gregg Fournier of Newburgh; his father, George Fournier of Van Buren; three sisters, Nola Long of East Millinocket, Rosita Lewis of Solon, and Ann Grant of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Roland Fournier of Waterville; one grandchild, Jordan; not to forget very special nephews and nieces, Julie Manzo, Deborah Currie, Andrew Long, David St. Onge, Danielle, Edward, Lisa Mazerolle, Paula Solmon, Erin Robert, Bethany Monroe, Hannah Heron, April Liebelt, and Halley Boeklke, and so many more, including a lot of very special friends. Eudo was predeceased by his mother, Alfreda Fournier, in 1996. At his request, Eudo was cremated. A memorial Mass will be held for him 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. At his family’s request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stillwater Health Care, 335 Stillwater Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
