CARIBOU – Leo J. Ruest, 76, died unexpectedly Nov. 28, 2007, in Caribou, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Saint Anne, New Brunswick the son of Clovis and Marie (Dumais) Ruest. Leo served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at McCain Foods, Easton, for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a life member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. He is survived by two brothers, Roger Ruest and his wife, Rena, of New York, and Ronald Ruest and his wife, Brenda, of Caribou; three sisters, Jeannette Johnston of Presque Isle, Simone Whitehouse and her husband, Malcolm, of Florida, and Cecile Ruest of Caribou; several nieces, nephews and four godchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Glenna (Chandler) Ruest, July 11, 2007; a brother, Melquis Ruest; and a sister, Reta Ruest. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
