PERHAM – Leo T. Paradis, 71, died unexpectedly Oct. 4, 2003, at his Perham resid-ence. He was born in Portage, Oct. 9, 1931, the son of John and Mary (Bulley) Paradis. Leo served with the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He married Sylvia (Wakefield) Paradis June 4, 1955. He retired from the State of Maine Dept. of Transportation after 35 years of service. During his “retirement” he worked as Road Commissioner for the Town of Perham, drove tractor-trailer for Gary Fox and MPG as well as working the harvest as a truck driver for many years. Leo was a member of St. Catherine’s Mission in Washburn. He was a member of the Fred V. Brescia Council 1870 Knights of Columbus, where he served as Faithful Navigator and deputy Grand Knight. He also was President of the Catholic Men’s Association. Leo faithfully donated blood to the American Red Cross for many years and received two 10-gallon pins. He was an asset to his community and family and will be greatly missed. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 48 years, Sylvia of Perham, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robin and Darlene Paradis of Perham, and Kenneth and June Paradis of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Dwight Wilcox of Woodland; three grandsons, Jason Paradis of Perham, Keith Wilcox of Caribou, and Paul Wilcox of Woodland; two half brothers, Lawrence Paradis of Maryland, and John Anderson of Florida; one sister, Irene Gagnon of Connecticut; and a half sister, Leona Snow of Bangor; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Paradis was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Ludger, Ernest and Omar Paradis; and one sister, Delvina Ross. Friends may visit with the family 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine’s Mission in Washburn. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, from St. Catherine’s with Father Scott Mower officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Perham. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Paradis may do so through the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou.
