ELLINGTON, Conn. – Leon Plourde Jr., 70, formerly of Windsor Locks, Conn., beloved husband of 48 years to Cecile (Albert) Plourde, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at home. Leon was born in Fort Kent, the son of the late Leon and Leona (Charotte) Plourde. Leon formerly lived in Hartford, Conn., and later Windsor Locks, Conn., for 40 years, before moving to Ellington, Conn., six years ago. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. He had been employed at the H.P. Hood Co., Suffield, Conn., for more than 30 years, retiring 10 years ago due to ill health. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks, Conn., and served as a Eucharist minister and a member of Riverside Council No. 26, Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Anne Marie Kardys and her husband, David, of Ellington, Conn., and Betty Keilty and her husband, Tony, of Ellington, Conn.; his brother and sisters, Gilma Albert of Enfield, Conn., Marilyn Chasse of Plainville, Conn., Joseph Donald Plourde of Somersworth, N.H., and Carol Plourde of Hartford, Conn.; his grandchildren, Ashley Kardys, Kylie Kardys, Julia Dobosz and Cassandra Keilty. Relatives and friends will gather 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, Conn., with a procession at 9:30 a.m. to St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks, Conn., where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. His family will receive friends, 5-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
