BRISTOL, Conn. – Leona (Long) Boucher, 91, of Bristol, Conn., formerly of Plainville, Conn., passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Bristol, Conn., hospital. She was born in Fort Kent, one of eight children to the late Joseph and Modeste (Gaudreau) Long. After moving to Connecticut in 1959, she was a resident of New Britain and Plainville, Conn. She worked at New Britain General Hospital cafeteria for 6 years, and retired in 1974, from Lory Engineering in Southington, Conn. She was a member of the St. Jean’s Women’s Auxiliary in New Britain, Conn., for 30 years, and a member of the Plainville Senior Center and Farmington Valley Adult Day Care Center. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and took great pleasure in quilting, playing bingo and cards, as well as trips to the casino. A friend to everyone she met, Leona will be dearly missed for her lively personality and her warm smile. She is survived by her eight children, Reynold Boucher and his wife, Connie, of Hampton, Va., Helen Mitchner of Redondo Beach, Calif., Jeanne Corriveau and her husband, Paul, of Plainville, Conn., Nancy Michaud of Shallotte, N.C., Patsy Plummer of Northford, Conn., Sally Rowe and her husband, Brian, of Farmington, Sandra Harvey and her husband, Karl, of Bristol, Conn., and Ina Boucher-Murawski and her husband, Hank, of Plantsville, Conn. She also leaves a brother, Gerard Long of Fort Kent; a sister and brother-in-law, Clair and Albert Parent of Waterbury, Conn.; 37 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Gerald and Joseph “Harold” Boucher; a daughter, Judy Harvey; three brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, Conn., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington, Conn. Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
