DEER ISLE – Leroy “Doc” Evans Hardy, 66, died Jan. 23, 2007, in Deer Isle. He was born Sept. 19, 1940, the son of George C. and Irene (Gray) Hardy. Leroy attended school in Deer Isle and worked many years at the Stonington Packing Factory. He liked fishing, hunting and played a lot of music. Leroy will be missed by the many people he worked for in Deer Isle. He is survived by two sisters, Cornelia Cullinane of Deer Isle and Carolyn Stevens of Brooksville; four brothers, Hubert R. Billings and his wife, Carol, of Deer Isle, Neville C. Hardy and his wife, Darlene, of Deer Isle, Ralph Hardy and companion, Teena Brown, of Deer Isle and Melvin Hardy and his wife, Mary, of Deer Isle; three aunts, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Leroy will be missed by a special friend, Garfield Eaton of Deer Isle. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, James Stevens.
