MACHIAS – LeRoy Edward Tucker, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at DECH in Machias after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Portland, the son of Warren “Bart” and Emma (Farnsworth) Tucker. Roy attended school in Jonesport. He was the local “Milkman” delivering milk to many families and schools in the towns of Jonesport, Beals, Addison, Columbia Falls, and Jonesboro for more than 30 years. He was a good listener and friend to so many of his customers. He also worked for Wyman Foods and drove a highway truck for the state of Maine. Roy could always be seen sitting in the Union Trust Parking lot or at Stanhope’s Restaurant. Roy is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Tucker) Church and her husband, John; two beloved granddaughters and a great-grandson, Elizabeth, her friend, Johnny, and their son, Dakota and John Parker, Sarah and her friend, Frank Alley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin Tucker and his friend, Dorothy MacDowell of Florida, Ronald and Dorothy Tucker, Daniel Tucker, and Madolyn Rogers Tucker, all of Jonesport; nieces, nephews, and their families, Brenda and Douglas Dodge of Beals Island, Peggy and Dwaine Micue of Oakland, Rebecca and Ralph Dobson of Missouri, Bruce and Sally Leighton of Milbridge, Joe and Linda Leighton, Michael and Sue Chandler of Cherryfield, and Cathy and Robert Sawyer of Florida. Roy was predeceased by his mother, father, and beloved wife, Jean. He will be deeply loved and missed by his many friends and family, especially Stan Beal, his next door neighbor, Bud Dyer, and Dale Crosby of Jonesport. Roy’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service and he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Jean at the Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesport in the spring, 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004.
