HOLDEN and TELLICO PLAINS, Tenn. – LeRoy “Roy” David Lakeman was born April 5, 1915 and went home to the Lord Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. Roy was born the son of Jess Lakeman and Sadie (Rice) Evans in Lubec. He grew up in the Perry/Eastport area with his seven brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sisters; his first wife, Mildred (Ring) Lakeman; his second wife, Beatrice (Getchell) Lakeman; and his eldest son, James LeRoy Lakeman in 1997. He is survived by six of his children, the Rev. Helen Shaw of Knoxville, Tenn., Donna and George Orcutt of Stockton Springs, David and Lynn Lakeman of Holden, Gerald and Bonnie Lakeman of Atlanta, Ga., Grace and Carl Garrison of Houston and Julia Pettegrow of Houston; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held for Roy Sunday, Aug. 13, in Tennessee. Another graveside memorial service for Roy will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at Rowe Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Lakeman’s Children’s Fund at the North Brewer-Eddington United Met-hodist Church, Eddington. For more information please contact Tina True.
