HOULTON – Leslie “Sonny” Knapp, 68, died Jan. 22, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 25, 1937, at Amity, the son of Halson G. and Charlotte (Getchell) Knapp. Sonny was employed by Kelse McGary as a truck driver helping Kelse in many aspects of the logging transportation business for more than 40 years. He had a great love for all of nature and it’s animals. He is survived by his mother of Houlton; his life long companion, Lynn Bither Morris; three daughters, Stacy and companion, Otis Henderson, Evelyn and companion, John Toner, Kristy and Mark Britton, all of Houlton; six grandchildren, Megan and Haley Henderson, Erin Proctor, Melissa Clark, Ray and Jesse Varney; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Isaiah and Wayne; five brothers, Charles “Jimmy” Knapp, Jerry Knapp, Jack Knapp, all of Houlton, Peter Knapp of Cary, William Knapp of New Limerick; three sisters, Jane Luce of Tolland, Conn., Susan Wilkiki of West Warwick, R.I., Daisy Poncin of Lincoln, R.I.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Brent in 1995; and his sister, Janet Sibalich in 2002. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church, with the Revs. Wayne Robertson and David Tuttle, officiating.
