BANGOR – Leston F. Gibbons, 71, died peacefully March 26, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born July 9, 1935, in Brewer, the son of Harmon and Glenys (Cunningham) Gibbons. Leston graduated from Brewer High School in 1954. He was a longtime member and deacon of Essex Street Baptist Church, Bangor; member of Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217 AF & AM, Orrington; Odd Fellows, Orrington and enjoyed stock car racing, videos, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Edith (Badger) Gibbons of Bangor; four children, Steven Gibbons and his wife, Cheryl, of Camden, Susan Schwab and Dale Jewell of Corinna, Debra and her husband, David Curtis, of Sumter, S.C. and David Gibbons and his wife, Marie, of Murrieta, Calif.; two brothers, Harmon Gibbons and Ginger of Texas and George Gibbons and his wife, Gloria, of Oklahoma; two sisters and their husbands, Joan and Douglas Thompson of Bangor and Janice and Arthur Wood of Eddington; seven grandchildren, Steven Jay Gibbons, Matthew Gibbons, Traci Schwab, Jami Mooers, Saible Curtis, Jessica Kosanovich, Elizabeth Gibbons; three great-grandchildren, Althea Mae Gibbons, Gabriel Rockwell and Zachary Mooers; brother-in-law, Fred Badger and his wife, Erdene, of Bangor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, pastor of the Essex Street Baptist Church, officiating.
