OLD TOWN and ORONO – Letha (Shaw) Mahan, 92, formerly of Glenburn, died Jan. 4, 2007, at the Meadows, Old Town. She was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Winfield Cyrus and Amelia (Pomroy) Shaw. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Winston L. and Nancylee Mahan of Old town; three grandchildren, Michael Mahan and his wife, Gail, of Milford, David Mahan and his wife, Jennifer, of Old Town and Michelle Kelly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four great-granddaughters, Kayleigh Mahan, Riley Mahan, Madison Mahan and Nicole Kelly; and several nephews. Letha was predeceased by her husband, Leo O. Mahan in 1985; two brothers, George Shaw and Henry Shaw; and two sisters, Winifred “Winnie” Jones and Bessie Belyea. Letha’s wish would be that family and friends wear bright colors for her visitation and funeral Mass. Relatives and friends are welcomed to call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 754 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Laquin pastor presiding. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall after the interment. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
