LAMOINE – Leurene F. Hodgkins, 95, died June 15, 2006, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born June 19, 1910, in Waterville, the daughter of Fred P. and Flossie (Mosher) Farwell. She attended school in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School in 1927. Leurene was married to Dr. Allen Hodgkins for 591/2 years until he predeceased her in 1995. They spent two years in Alaska, giving sodium fluoride treatments to schoolchildren. They returned to Lamoine to retire in 1950. She served as treasurer of Lamoine for seven years and was treasurer of the Forest Hill Cemetery for 38 years. Leurene enjoyed hunting, fishing and sewing. She is survived by her husband, Harlan of Lamoine; stepsons, Peter Hodgkins and wife, Sue, Paul Hodgkins and wife, Lucy; five stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Beverly Wentworth; several nieces, nephews and many cousins. At Leurene’s request there will be no funeral service. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lamoine.
