KINGMAN – Lewis B. Doane Sr., 79, passed away July 6, 2008, surround-ed by his loving family, at home. Lewis was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Kingman, the son of Phyllis (Doane) Sherwood. At age 23, Lewis joined the Army and served in the Korean War. Upon his return, he met and married Dorothy (Thompson) Doane, his loving wife of 55 years. Lewis had many jobs in his lifetime. He worked in the woods, for the railroad and Kingman Electric. His last job was at Forster Manufacturing, Mattawamkeag, where he retired. Lewis was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed cooking and working at the Beano’s. In recent years Lewis played Beano at the Medway DAV hall and enjoyed playing cards with the ladies. Lewis and Dot also enjoyed the local music jams and all the wonderful people they met. Lewis was predeceased by his mother; one sister, June Sherwood; and one grandson, Timothy Doane. Lewis leaves behind two sisters, Babe Linscott and her husband, Fernald, and Pauline Snow and her husband, Bob; his loving wife, Dot, and their five children, Neal and wife, Dee, Dana, Luke and wife, Brandee, Brenda Pratt and husband, Donald, and Loretta. Lewis also leaves behind a daughter he was united with in later years, Brenda Sutherland and husband, Donald; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve McNally officiating.
