COOPER – Lida M. Cooper, 76, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at her residence. Lida was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Baileyville, daughter of the late Edward E. and Lida P. (Smith) Southard. She graduated from Woodland High School, Class of 1946. After graduating, she taught school in Alexander for several years, then worked on the family blueberry farm. On Sept. 22, 1947, Lida married Carleton Samuel Cooper. She was a member of the Crawford Bible Fellowship and the Cathance Grange. Lida was predeceased by a sister, Deanie Hurd; and a brother, Donald Southard. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Carleton S. Cooper of Cooper; a son, Gerald C. Cooper and his wife, Sharon L., of Alexander; a grandson, Carleton J. Cooper of Alexander; a brother, Edward E. Southard and his wife, Edna, of Charlotte; five sisters, Evelyn Libby of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Luella Perkins of Fall River, Mass., Helen Ward of Princeton, Marie Southard of California, and Ollie McConaghy of Fredericton, New Brunswick; a very special friend, Doris Perkins of Scarborough; and many special nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Lee Cross officiating.
