OLD TOWN – Lila “Michele” Tidwell Massey, 49, went home to be with her husband and soul mate who recently passed away in June. Michele passed away early Wednesday Aug. 4, 2004, following a long illness. She was born Jan. 28, 1955, in Safford, Ariz., daughter of Albert N. and Rose L. (Lacadie) Tidwell. Michele worked for Orono Commons Nursing Facility for many years. The greatest joys in her life were spending time with her children, grandchildren and mother whom she considered her best friend. She had a special closeness with all of her siblings, sharing many fond memories. Michele enjoyed beading and collecting precious rocks. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Heather, Crystal Kirkendall and her husband, John, and Amber; son, Jake; two grandchildren, Sarah Michele and Maverick; mother, Lorraine Tidwell; sisters, Cherie Grant and her husband, Brian, Paulette Cunningham and her husband, Dana, Renee Carter and her husband, Leland; brother, Tim Tidwell and his wife, Paula; sister, Dixie Grant and her husband, Dennis; many nieces and nephews that loved her very much. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Kim, of 30 years; and her father, Albert N. Tidwell. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Family Parish Church in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard Celebrant. Committal will be held at Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town following the Mass. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the burial.
