VINALHAVEN – Lillian B. Beckman, 72, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 3, 2008, at her daughter’s home while battling cancer. She was born March 6, 1936, in Boston, to Lawrence Corrao and Kathleen Thompson. She devoted her life to taking care of the people that she loved. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John S. Beck-man of Vinalhaven; two brothers, Lawrence Corrao and his wife, Doris, of Florida and John Corrao and his longtime partner, Rebecca Dyer, of Rockland; her sons, John L. Bickford and partner, Beth Benner, of Vinalhaven, Jeffrey Jones and his wife, Maureen, of Louisiana and Eric Beckman and his wife, Maggie, of Vinalhaven; her daughters, Donna Anthony and her longtime part-ner, Mike Burpee, of Orland, and Bunny Beckman of Vinalhaven; her grandchildren, Renee Jones and Malibu Anthony, Joshua Anthony and his children, Aliza and Jacob, all of Vinalhaven, Angel Beckman and her son, Caleb, of Vinalhaven, Eric Beckman Jr. of Vinalhaven, Lacey Bickford and her son, Isaiah, of Rockland; as well as granddaughters, Yvo-nne “Beba” Rosen of Vinalhaven and Jonette Rocket of Rocklad; grandson, Sig Beckman and wife, Darlene and their children, Sig, Bobby and Ben; and three honorary “sisters,” Bodine Ames, Jackie Lee and Grace Hinrichs. She was predeceased by her son, Michael; parents, Lawrence Corrao and Kathleen Thompson; a brother, Tommy Corrao; and her longtime canine friend, Samm. Lillian had extended family and friends too numerous to mention, who she loved and who loved her dearly. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, including the dogs who always knew she had a box of biscuits in the front seat of her car when she pulled in. It was her wish not to have a funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family request’s donations be made in the memory of Lillian Beckman and Samm to Rockland Animal Hospital, 355 Old County Road, Rockland, ME 04841.
