KENNEBUNK – Lillian DeWolfe Ingraham of Kennebunk, died Jan. 15, 2005, at home surrounded by family. The daughter of the late Reverend Thomas DeWolfe and Elaine Ruggles DeWolfe, Lillian was born June 24, 1930, in Shelburne, Nova Scotia She spent her childhood in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick before moving to Maine. She graduated from Glace Bay High School in Nova Scotia, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in education from the University of Connecticut. Lillian taught at all levels in public schools in Rochester, N.Y., Hartford, Conn., and Canaan and Kennebunk. She served as principal at schools in both York, and Rye, N.H. and was Superintendent of Schools in Madison. In her retirement she taught classes and supervised education students at the University of New England. She enjoyed researching family history, walking beaches, photography, and spending time with her family. Lillian is survived by her children, Thomas Ingraham and his wife, Betty, of Orono, Bud Ingraham and his wife, Lisa, of Canaan, Richard Ingraham and his, wife, Marsha, of Naples, Fla., Lynn Cole and her husband, Aaron, of Waterville, and Gail Mellon and her husband, Anthony, of Kennebunk. She is also survived by her brother, James DeWolfe and his wife, Sally, of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Lillian’s family would like to thank Jackie McKim, Tom Sferes, Dr. Daniel Hayes, and Dr. Ann Hunter, as well as Hospice of Southern Maine including Janet Gauvin, Pam Lyons, Meg Noble, and Jenny Comeau for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
