CLIFTON and BANGOR Lillian M. Morse, 90, wife of the late Vernon Morse, died Sept. 9, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Carl and Dagmar (Bratt) Lofgren. Lillian was a member of Clifton United Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess and organized the church library. She was a member of the American Baptist Women and was involved with the LaRomana Mission in the Dominion Republic. Lillian was a past member of the Altrusa Club, the Bangor Nature Club, Eddington Women’s Extension Group and past master of the East Eddington Subordinate Grange. She also helped form the Clifton Historical Society and Clifton Library. She was a former town clerk for the Town of Clifton and very active in other community and religious affairs. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Vernita and Robert Leins of Bradley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Carl Lofgren; and her sister, Thelma Swanson. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Clifton United Baptist Church with Pastor William Stone and the Rev. Albert Coffey officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at the church.
