SMYRNA MILLS and MADISON – Lillian Webber Bartlett passed from this life peacefully Dec. 23, 2004, at Maplecrest Nursing Facility. She was born July 31, 1919, in Oakfield, the daughter of Stanley and Winnie (Chase) Webber. She left behind three sons, John “Jack” Bartlett and his wife, Christine, of Merrimac, N.H. and their three children, David of Texas, Alan and Sara of Merrimac, Wendell Bartlett and his wife, Donna, of North Anson and their sons, Mark of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. and Rodger of North Anson and Roland Bartlett of Merrimac, N.H.; also surviving are her brothers, Lewis Webber of Naples, Fla. and Houlton, Carroll Hersey and his wife, Viola of Smyrna Mills and the Rev. Perley Hersey and his wife, Bernice, of Pearland, Texas; stepsons, Alfred Bartlett of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ted Bartlett of Texas, Nathan Bartlett of Florida; and stepdaughter, Betty Chisa of Florida; She was predeceased by her sisters, Avie Basarache; and two brothers, Ira Hersey (during World War II) and Earnest Hersey. Also many very special friends including Bunny Stewart and her family of Smyrna Mills, Verdenn Kovula and her family of Woodland and Jeff and Vicki Hardy and their children, Griffin and Mackenzie of Oakfield. Also many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count, all of which were very special to her. Lillian was a long time resident of Smyrna Mills and an active person all her life. She worked at many occupations including as a short order cook, nanny, receptionist, for Head Start in Dyer Brook, the Extension Service through the UM, as a clerk for the Stewart family at the Smyrna Mills General Store, baby sitter for many families, and home care for several people. She was a long time member of the Oakfield Baptist Church and served there as treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. Her loves were her children and grandchildren and many other children. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cats, crocheting, knitting and many other activities. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Oakfield Baptist Church, the Rev. Kirby Rushton officiating. Visiting and reception following in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oakfield Baptist Church, Oakfield ME 04763. Arrangements by Bower’s Funeral Home, Island Falls.
