FORT FAIRFIELD – Linda D. Kelley, 66, wife of Melvin A. Kelley, passed away Saturday morning, May 17, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after a brief, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born April 16, 1942, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Joseph A. and Helen R. (Rogers) Conant. Linda graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1960 and went onto attend Maine State Teachers Academy, Presque Isle. Linda was a schoolteacher in Caribou and Fort Fairfield school systems for several years and was married to Melvin A. Kelley, July 27, 1966. Linda was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, where she served on the vestry, was a member of the choir and assisted with bereavement receptions. Reading and music were two great passions in her daily life, and she was a member of Caribou Choral Society for many years. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Conant. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Melvin A. Kelley of Fort Fairfield; three sons, Michael A. Kelley, Paul M. Kelley and Stephen F. Kelley, all of Fort Fairfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Sandra Conant, and Thomas and Betty Kent Conant, all of Fort Fairfield; one sister, JoAnn Russum of Hold-en; one granddaughter, Alexandra Kelley of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. Linda will be dearly remembered by her close friend, Betty Everett of Fort Fairfield. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home at a later date. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
