ORLAND – Linda G. (Leach) Hamer, 64, died Monday, April 16, 2007, at her home. Born April 13, 1943, in Orland, she was the daughter of Frederick M. and Virginia (Bowen) Leach. Linda attended Orland and Bucksport schools. She was an owner of the Hill Top Store, Orland, in the 1960s and 1970s. She later worked for the Orland Post Office and owned and operated the Northeast Motel, Hancock. Linda belonged to the Eagles Club 4208, Hudson, and was a past Rainbow Girl. She loved to fish, play Bingo, cards and travel. She enjoyed meeting people, telling jokes and loved life. Linda was predeceased by her husband, George T. Hamer in 1994; a brother, Frederick M. Leach Jr.; and her parents. She is survived by some of the nicest children in the world, three sons, Gregory Hamer and his wife, Laura, of Prospect, Richard Carney and his wife, Cindy, of Brunswick and Kevin Carney of Worcester, Mass.; her daughter, Roxanne Meserve and her husband, Doug, of Hollis; two granddaughters, Heather Meserve of Kennebunk and Amy Meserve of Hollis; one great-granddaughter, Kylie Mosser of Kennebunk; four sisters, Susan Shorey and her husband, Donald, of Verona, Jill Sanborn of Orland, Sandra Wilson of Ohio and Judith Nightingale of Stuart, Fla., along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Michell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with the Rev. Linda A. Smith officiating. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. until time of service. Private interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport, at a later date.
