HAMPDEN – Linda Goode, 53, died March 28, 2006, at a Bangor hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 18, 1952, in Bangor, a daughter of Richard C. Sr. and Shirley A. (Sabin) Jordan. Linda was employed by local merchants throughout her life. She will be remembered for her love of people, her incredible sense of humor and the endless joy she brought to those around her. Halloween was Linda’s favorite time of year. She was known as Witch Matilda and would spend days preparing for the arrival of trick-or-treaters and scare all who dared to knock on her door. Her joys in life were going to yard sales and bartering for the best deal, cooking for family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren. Despite her illness, she continued to maintain a positive attitude and always made everyone around her laugh by telling one of her jokes. She is survived by her husband, Durwin M. Goode Sr. of Hampden; son, Durwin Goode Jr. and his fiance, Rachel Reeves, of Hampden; daughter, Amie Goode and companion, Dan Gray, of Eddington; two grandchildren, who brought immense joy to Linda, Elliot Heistand and Shirley Jean Goode; three sisters, Ruby Matthews of Bangor, Regina (Jordan) Goode and her husband, Loren, of Patten, Nancy (Jordan) Goode and her husband, Roger, of Hampden; two brothers, Raymond Jordan and his wife, Gloria (Goode), of Hampden and Richard Jordan and his wife, Liz (Pullen), of Hampden; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marcia and Jerry Viering; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special thanks to the many friends who supported her throughout her illness. At her request there will be no visiting hours or formal funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Those who wish may visit www.mem.com to view a life-story of Linda and post a personal tribute. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in her name.
