HERNANDO, Fla. – Linwood P. “Chris” Wickett Sr., 81, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Lecanto, Fla. Born in Great Works, he was the son of Vaughn H. Wickett Sr. and Eleanor (Paul) Wickett. He came here in December 2006, from Orono. He was a chef who worked in various restaurants, including the University of Maine in Orono. He retired from the Penobscot Valley Country Club, Orono. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the VFW in Orono. He was an honorary member of ATO fraternity at the University of Maine. He enjoyed cooking for his neighbors, friends and family. He liked to fish, go to garage sales, do gardening and grow flowers. He was Baptist. He was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Wickett, in 1992; and his brothers, Vaughn H. Wickett Jr. and Reginald Wickett. Survivors include his son, Joe Wickett and wife, Peggy, of Hernando, Fla.; two daughters, Sherry Dunton and husband, Maurice, of Brooksville, Fla. and Dottie Moody and husband, Randy, of Caribou; two stepdaughters, Kim Crawley and husband, Shane, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Sheila Cyr of Connecticut; one stepson, John Cyr of Connecticut; three sisters, Patricia Rodgers and husband, Robert, of Old Town, Rosemary Finnagen of Nashville, Tenn., and Phyllis York of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
