WASHBURN – Lois A. Jardine, 86, died Dec. 22, 2005, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Canaan, the daughter of William F. and Eva M (Smith) Staples. She was an active member of the Lidstone Memorial United Methodist Church where she had been the organist for more than 20 years. Lois taught school for more than 29 years retiring in 1984. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Washburn, the United Methodist Women and was the treasurer of the Salmon Brook Historical Society for many years. Lois is survived by her husband of 65 years, C. Herbert Jardine of Presque Isle; a son, Charles H. Jardine of Orrington; a daughter, Leah E. Tafolla of Schertz, Texas; grandchildren, Charles, Michelle, Mark and Lori; two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Savannah; a sister, Ruth Gingrande of Madison, Va. and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Dorothy Matson officiating. A spring interment will be in the Crouseville Cemetery.
