PORTLAND – Loretta E. Murphy, 87, formerly of Old Town, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 3, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Manor in Portland after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1927, the daughter of Isadore and Josephine (Girouard) Boucher. Loretta worked at the University of Maine at Orono for almost 20 years. She was a devout Catholic, a loving mother and a kind and precious grandmother. She will be sadly missed. We all love you “tight, tight, tight.” Loretta was predeceased by Arthur M. Murphy, her husband of 50 years. She is survived a daughter, Charlene Bourbon of North Berwick; a son, Arthur Murphy of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Jeannette Hunt of Natick, Mass.; a brother, George Boucher of Old Town; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at St. Patrick’s Church, 1342 Congress St., Portland. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta.
