DYER BROOK – Loretta Lyons, 79, died Aug. 31, 2007. She was the loving wife of Richard “Dick” Lyons. Loretta will always be beloved by her children, grandchildren and large extended family. She was an active member of Dyer Brook Community Church and provided flowers for Sunday services for many years. She shared her laughter and love with friends and extended family. She enjoyed conversation, books, movies, music and gardening. She had an active curiosity about the world and people, and kept up on current affairs. She read Rolling Stone magazine into her 70s. Her unique zest for life and unfailing wit are the subject of many stories among her children and grandchildren. Even through declining health, she remained rich in spirit and goodwill. She was warm and wonderful, and always welcoming to those in need. She had the pleasure of spending her last days at Camp Roosevelt on Pleasant Pond with family, her greatest joy. She is survived by her husband, to whom she was married for more than 50 years, John Richard Lyons. She was the loving mother of Catherine Cummings Fee and David Fee, Margaret “Peggy” Cummings, Richard and Terri Lyons, James and Roxanne Lyons, John and Nicole Lyons, Susan Lyons and Kevin Daner. She was the loving and proud grandmother of Shawna, Nicki, Lyndsey, Lauren, Kimberly, Cassidy and Laura. She is survived by sisters, Jessie Falkenstern, Anita Mathis and Patricia Loeb of New Jersey; brother, Richard Nally of Florida; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marcella Gibson and Eileen Kober; and brother, John Nally. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Dyer Brook Community Church, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Flowers may be sent to Dyer Brook Community Church.
