PRESQUE ISLE – Lorne Hayden Melvin, 63, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 13, 1944, in Hartland, New Brunswick, the youngest child of Hayden and Beatrice (Ellis) Melvin. He lived in Presque Isle all of his life, except for the last nine years in which he resided in Virginia. Lorne was an independent truck driver for most of his life and took pride in his work. He was a jokester and a good friend to all. He had great pride in his wife, children, stepchildren and friends. He enjoyed visits from family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Martin and her husband, Marc; his grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah; a son, Kenneth Melvin and his companion, Tina, and her children, Morgan, Leta and Torin; two sisters, Lorna and her husband, Robert Peterson, and Delta and her husband, Merrill Clark; also special friends, Danny and Bunny Estabrook. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Keith Melvin, Dec. 12, 2005; and his wife, Brenda Melvin, Aug. 8, 2007. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
