GREENVILLE JUNCTION Lorraine Kennedy, 75, passed away June 23, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a long respiratory illness. Lorraine was born July 9, 1932, in Waterville, the daughter of Ora and Laurier Giroux. Lorraine was multi-talented. To list a few, she was an accomplished salesperson at the former exclusive Squire’s clothing store in Waterville; managed the former Puriton Clothing store; managed a Waterville motel; and owned a small restaurant and laundromat in Madison. She was chef at Gallagher’s, Bar Harbor and Gallagher’s, Waitsfield, Vt. Lorraine moved to Greenville in 1971 to help her friends operate the Greenville Inn, where she was chef for many years. She also cooked at several other eateries in the Greenville area and for Meals on Wheels. Lorraine was well known for her popovers and her tourtiere pies. Lorraine was always delighted to help others and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She had many close friends and neighbors among whom, Connie Judkins was very special. Lorraine also enjoyed her sorority with the Red Hat Girls. She always looked forward to Halloween, when she and her friends’ costumes were a yearly hoot! Lorraine was predeceased by her father; and her husband, Bernard C. Kennedy. She is survived by her mother of Blairsville, Ga.; her brothers, Raymond L. Giroux of Bangor and Lily Bay, Ronald L. Giroux and his wife, Beverly, of Waterville; her sister, Ursula J. MacDougall and her husband, Alan, of Young Harris, Ga.; her significant other, Walter Caron of Greenville Junction; several nieces and nephews. The family expresses a depth of gratitude to the staff at C.A. Dean Hospital, the Life-Flight and to the cardiac care unit and intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center. A celebration of Lorraine’s life with her family and special friends will occur at a later date this summer. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Directors, Bangor.
