NAPLES, Fla. – Lorraine Mashaw “Sissa Burgess” passed away in the early morning, May 10, 2007, in Naples, Fla. Sissa was born Feb. 4, 1941, on Verona Island, daughter of James Burgess and Aurilea Shirley Burgess. She married and moved away, where she lived in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Returning to Bucksport, Sissa was a waitress in many Bucksport restaurants. Her customers may remember her quick wit. Her adventure continued when she moved around with her girls to Tennessee, New York, Arizona, Ohio, New Hampshire and Florida. She had a passion for gambling, games and nature. She was a kind and gentle woman, who was very proud of her four children and nine grandchildren. Sissa is survived by her brothers, Pudgy Burgess and his wife, Nancy, of Dedham and Bubba Burgess and his wife, Mickey, of Bucksport and their children; her children, Sweet Don and Gayle Mashaw of Daytona Beach, Fla., Lori and Craig Gooding and their two girls of Naples, Fla., Joni and Bill Mottola and their three children of Findlay, Ohio, and Leah Grant and Randy Brisson and their four children of Belmont, N.H. Her children were all with her at the time of her passing and will be returning to Bucksport to host a memorial service in honor of Sissa. Please join the families in a celebration of her life 1 p.m. May 20, at the lake house of Pudgy and Nancy Burgess’ parents on Toddy Pond.
