MADAWASKA – Louis A. “Pee-Wee” Cyr, 86, son of Paul Cyr and Elise Jalbert, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, from complications suffered from a fall in his home Saturday, April 7. Louis, a lifelong resident of Madawaska, grew up on his farm on Gagnon Road, Madawaska, and served his country in World War II overseas, flying PBY rescue missions and as a radioman. Louis worked for 33 years at Fraser Papers and was foreman and superintendent of the finishing and bond coating room for 25 of those 33 years. He served as town manager of Madawaska from 1972 to 1980. He also served on the budget committee and the airport committee for many years. Louis was licensed as a professional land surveyor in 1967 and was also a notary public in the state of Maine. Louis was a member of the American Legion for more than 60 years. He was an avid boat racer, snowmobiler, licensed pilot, hunter and outdoorsman. Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille “Trudy” Cyr, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 26, of this year. Louis was predeceased by his three sisters Lily, Theresa and Rose. Louis was the father of and is survived by his seven children and 10 grandchildren, Eileen and Mark LeVasseur and their children, Alia and Ben, Paul Cyr, Gregory Cyr and his children, Jesse, Travis and Meagan, Michael Cyr and Lucie Michaud and their two sons, Charles-Olivier and Mathieu, Janet LeDoux and her children, Nicole and Brian, Jean Cyr and Paul Dumond and their son, James, and Jeffrey Cyr and Lynn Littlejohn. Friends and family may call 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church until time of service 11 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Daigle Funeral Home.
