PERRY – Darlington A. “Buck” Ricker, 84, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at his home. Buck was born April 12, 1922, in Topsfield, son of the late Ellery and Ruby (McPhail) Ricker. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving aboard a destroyer escort in the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Clarksfield, Tenn., Naval Flight Preparatory School, Buck met his love, Mildred “Millie” Adams. They were united in marriage May 17, 1946, in Portland. After completing his Naval service, Buck joined the Marine Corps Reserves. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1984, where he was employed as a machinist and supervisor. Upon retirement, he worked with his sons as an electrician for Ricker – Cloutier Inc. Buck professed his faith in Jesus Christ many years ago, and was a member of the Perry Bible Fellowship. He was also a member of the Passamaquoddy Memorial VFW Post No. 11299, Perry. Buck’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends around the kitchen table. He was predeceased by a brother, Luke Ricker. Surviving are his loving wife of more than 60 years, Millie; five children, Del Ricker of Cumberland, Sandy Prescott of Perry, Darlington Ricker Jr. and wife, Louise, of Charlotte, Dianne Arseneau and husband, Donnie, of Parsonsfield and Peter Ricker and wife, Sheila, of Perry; a brother, Clyde Ricker and wife, Pauline, of Perry; more than 85 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Perry Bible Fellowship.
