HARTLAND – Louis J. Belliveau, 90, died Jan. 17, 2004, at Sanfield Rehab and Living Center after an extended illness. He was born May 28, 1913, in Brewer, the son of the late Simon and Mary Belliveau. Louis served his country in the Navy in World War II. He worked as a barber most of his life and worked at a few different barber shops during the course of the 30 years he lived in California before owning his own barber shop in Palm Springs. He and his wife have lived in Hartland since 1988. Louis was a lifetime member of the Elks, having been a member for 55 years. He was also a former member of the State Board of Barbers. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, yard sales, and traveling. He had a great love for animals, especially his cats. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lyda (Spaulding) Belliveau of Hartland; son, Richard Belliveau and his wife, Marcia, of Chatsworth, Calif.; sister, Nancy DeRoche of Brewer; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Belliveau; brother, George Belliveau; and a grandson. Visitation will take place from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Donald Shorey Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Brenda Haskell. Burial will take place at a later date in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland. Friends are invited to Sanfield Rehab and Living Center immediately following the service for a gathering with Mr. Belliveau’s family.
