LEICESTER, Mass., and WASHBURN – Louis J. Benoit, 88, formerly of 40 Peter Salem Road, Leicester, Mass., died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. Born in Leicester, Mass., he was the son of Henry and Merilda (Benjamin) Benoit. Mr. Benoit was a machinist for 32 years at the former Rexnord Chain & Belt Co. of Auburn, Mass., before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Pius X Church and the Leicester Senior Citizen Club. He was the husband of Beatrice T. (Rathbun) Benoit who died in 2001. He leaves a daughter, Barbara D. Drost and her husband, Allen, of Washburn, with whom he lived for the past two years, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, from the Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester, Mass., with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester, Mass. Burial will be held after at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, Mass. A calling hour will precede the funeral 8:45-9:45 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home.
