PITTSFIELD – Louise C. Spinney, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Eastport, the daughter of Alfred H. and Edith (Lyons) Spinney. She graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, and went on to train as a nurse at Augusta General Hospital. Louise served in World War II as a nurse in the U.S. Army, after which she continued nursing at Togus Veterans Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Pittsfield First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion, the Pittsfield Garden Club, the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Auxiliary, she was a member and past president of the Pittsfield Tuesday Club. She enjoyed keeping abreast of current affairs especially local legislative activities. Survivors include a cousin, Ethel Wright and her husband, Lawrence, of Gorham. She was predeceased by her sister, Theola Spinney in 1997. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, with the funeral service following 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Donations may be made in Louise’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04330. Interment will be in the spring at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
